An Evening at Sunapee Harbor...

Even though we technically live in the middle of nowhere, we are actually in a region that attracts many tourists in both the summer and winter months.  During the winter months, the main attractions are the ski areas and in the summer people generally come to enjoy the many lakes in the area, hike the numerous hiking trails and mountains and explore the small New England-y towns.  There are famer's markets and live music on local bandstands nearly every night of the week in different towns and we even have a very impressive summer stock musical theater in New London.  Sometimes we forget what a special place we live in, but yesterday we decided to drive the 25 minutes to Sunapee Harbor, a little village on the shores of Big Lake Sunapee (yes, there is a Little Lake Sunapee even closer to us).  We don't go to the Harbor very often, and we were probably some of the only "locals" there, but we had a blast walking around, listening to a live band and eating an early dinner overlooking the water.  We watched fancy motorboats pull in and out of the harbor and spied on suntanned kids running around enjoying their summer vacation.  Camden had a great time checking out the boats, exploring the little toyshop and listening to the music.  We need to take advantage of all the opportunities in our area more often!  We live in a beautiful place!
