Today was a big day! We have been wanting to get a swing set for the boys ever since we moved into the new house, but hadn't had much luck finding anything on Craig's List and buying a new one was not an option for us financially. We often drive by a house of a family we've gotten to know during our years at Proctor - (their son just graduated last spring after playing soccer for Scott and is now beginning his first year at Dartmouth) - and we used to eye their swing set and discuss how we wanted to get something like that for our home. On a whim, Scott asked the parents if they'd be interested in selling it to us, and they said they would be thrilled to just give it to us if we could figure out a way to move it! Their two boys have out-grown it, and they loved the idea of passing it along for our boys to enjoy!

We work with a woman at Proctor whose husband owns a flatbed trailer and they were so generous to take the time to help us move the swing set to our house this morning! Scott went over early and dismantled parts of it while I stayed home with the kids and tended the fire (more on that in another post) and by shortly after noon we had the whole thing set up and ready for action! We are ordering new swings to replace the old ones, but otherwise (especially considering it's years and it's use) the set is in great condition! We are SOOOO thankful to the Howards for their generosity and we've already enjoyed hours of entertainment on it in the very first day!

That swing set it so great! My parents had one when we were kids and we LOVED it!
Very cool! We don't have the space in our yard for such a big play structure but I love seeing others! Luckily we live across the street from a great park! Our friends just got one like this and they freshened it up by adding some new stain to it. It looks great now and almost brand new. Have fun!!!
Love the new pics! What a great yard you have now! And such cute kids!! :)
So fun! Smart to ask - I'm sure they were thrilled to have someone be able to use it for years and years. Swingsets are golden. Mine are still on the swings after 5 years. Congrats!
Linds, this is so exciting! A backyard and swing set are definitely things that I can appreciate. Living in intern housing, we have a wonderful balcony, but that is it. Behr already gets so excited to just go out there, I can only imagine what it would be like to have a whole back yard for him to roam!
Oh, this looks like so much fun! A kid's dream! And your house is looking so awesome by the way! ; )
