I'm Back!

After a couple weeks away from the world of blogging, I'm happy to say that I'm back! I miss blogging when I don't make time for it, and I'm sure all my faithful readers are just pining away for more Allenby updates! :)

We have been having a wonderful summer - lots of travel, family time, swimming, house projects etc. I'll be posting some updates on things we've been doing over the last few weeks to try and get caught up. One reason I've been neglecting the blog is that my computer has been posting the dreaded "Your startup disc is almost full" announcement and won't even let me upload all my recent pictures from my camera. I've been frantically trying to order prints, backup pictures and delete as much as I can to make more room, but I'm not there yet and my computer is still acting up. I finally realized I could steal Scott's computer and blog from his...so that is what I'm doing now. Hopefully I'll get all of that resolved soon.

We had an incredible mini-vacation to Cape Cod a couple of weeks ago with my mom and sister and niece. My sister, Caren, and her family just yesterday moved down to North Carolina for her husband to attend Duke Divinity School (blog post on this coming soon!) so we took a couple of days to enjoy each other's company while visiting my grandparents' house on the Cape. Although we were only there for one full day and a half day on each end, we got plenty of beach time in and the boys had a blast discovering the ocean. Here are some of my favorite pictures from our time together...

Scott and I brought the boys to the beach around 6:30am both days. Parking is free until 8:00 and we were up so early anyways. We were in heaven. This is definitely the best time of day to hit the beach. It was absolutely gorgeous...
 Love this one...
We spent the middle part of the day on the bay side digging in the sand and swimming...
 Scott and the kiddos.
 Micah and Auntie...
 My wonderful Grandma Sylvia...
After nap time we headed back to Nauset Beach for an evening visit...
The next morning, my mom came to the beach with us bright and early.  It was another glorious morning!

We left the Cape and drove to Ohio for a family gathering with Scott's extended family.  More on the long drive next time!

Lake George #2

We are home from our mini-vacation to Lake George and are missing that beautiful spot so much already!  We had a great time swimming (Camden is getting so comfortable in the water!), sailing, playing games, hanging out with family and chasing our two crazy boys around the very un-childproofed house/property.  We couldn't have asked for better weather and although we were sad to leave, it was fun coming home to our new house!  Here are some pictures from the rest of our time at the lake.  Can't wait to go again next year!
Sailing with Uncle Brian...
 Sarah and Brian...
Camden fell asleep on my lap sailing...I was pretty content in that moment!
Camden with Nan and Pop at the dock...
My view from the hammock where I snuck away to read a few pages of The Help (I can't put it down)!
I love the look Micah is giving Aunt Sarah!
 Nan and the boys...
Camden loved this little raft we brought for Micah (Micah hated it!).
Goodbye Lake George!  We love you!

Lake George

We had an amazing day on the lake today.  Temperatures were in the mid-80's, the sun was shining, the kids were happy (busy and active and exhausting...but happy!) - a wonderful day all around!  Here are a few of my favorite pictures from today...

Walking

Micah is officially walking!!!  He's been so close for so long, and totally just took off today.  He's practically running already!  Here's a picture that Nan snapped of him.  I took a little video too that I'll try to post soon.
I have been SUCH a blog-slacker recently and I'm SO sorry.  Hoping to get back into the swing of things soon.  We're heading to our beloved Lake George tomorrow morning until Thursday with Scott's parents and Brian and Sarah - lots of sunny swim time awaits!  Definitely won't be as relaxing as the old days with two kids to chase/worry about, but it will still be so wonderful!

And here's a recent favorite photo - have I mentioned that Scott is an amazing daddy?!?!  :)

Home Sweet Home

For those of you who are my Facebook friends, you may have already seen some of these pictures, but I just had to post the house update on the blog!  We are all moved in and almost settled!  YAHOO!!!!  After a week of trying to find homes for everything and putting away boxes and taking trips back and forth to the dorm, we finally feel like we can sit back and enjoy our little home.  Well, kind of.  In reality there are still doors to paint, a peninsula counter to polyurithane, a kitchen wall to slap another coat of paint on, a woodstove corner to be finished off with bricks or tile (eeek!  Which one should we use!) and the list goes on and on.  BUT, the house is more than livable.  In fact, we had our first friends over for dinner last night and had so much fun!  Thank you, everyone, for the support and excitement you've shown us throughout this process.  It's been fun, but it's also been absolutely exhausting.  I posted an album of before/during/after photos on my facebook page that show the transformation a bit better (click on this link to see the Facebook album), but here are some pictures of our nearly settled home!  Enjoy!  :)
